Sharp 2.65" Auriculatus Tooth - Dakhla, Morocco

This is a sharply serrated 2.65" long tooth of the mega-toothed shark, Carcharocles auriculatus. It is believed Carcharocles auriculatus was closely related to the Megalodon but lived nearly 10-20 million years earlier.

This tooth was collected from the Late Eocene aged deposits of the Western Sahara Desert in Morocco. It has wonderful preservation with sharp serrations, fine enamel and a good root. It has one repaired crack in the right root lobe, but unlike most of the teeth from this location it is not restored.
