7.7" Miocene Fossil Echinoid (Clypeaster) - Taza, Morocco

This is a giant, 7.7" wide, 3D fossil Echinoid of the genus Clypeaster collected near Taza, Morocco. It's still partially embedded in the limestone it was found in.

Animals of the Clypeaster genus are more commonly referred to as "sea biscuits" or "cake urchins". The genus first appeared in the Late Eocene and survives to this day.
