5.8" Fossil Tortoise (Stylemys) - Wyoming

This is a beautiful, 5.8" tortoise (Stylemys nebrascensis) from the Brule Formation in Wyoming. It is inflated, in good condition and largely intact. The plates along the anterior-dorsal edge along with many of the ventral plates broke away and weren't recoverable. There is crack repair through some of the fractured plates along the edges, however this specimen has undergone no restoration. There are preserved tortoise bones within the rock that filled the shell, some of which have been exposed. The shell preservation overall is excellent!

This specimen comes with an acrylic display stand.
