5.3" Theropod Dinosaur Vertebra - Isle of Wight, England

This is a rare, 5.3" tall vertebra of a Lower Cretaceous age Theropod dinosaur. It was collected from the Wealden Clays of the Wessex Formation on the Isle of Wight. Both transverse processes and the spinous process are missing from this vertebra. There is a repaired crack through each pedicle where the vertebral arch broke away from the centrum. Rock has been left within the neural canal for stability purposes.

There are several theropod dinosaurs that have been discovered from this formation, so accurately identifying an isolated vertebra like this down to the genus is difficult.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.
