This is an interesting, polished slab of Bauxite mined near Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. This piece was broken and has since been repaired hence the bargain price.

Bauxite is the world's primary ore of aluminum. It is a heterogeneous material consisting mostly of the minerals gibbsite (Al(OH)3), boehmite (γ-AlO(OH)) and diaspore (α-AlO(OH)), mixed with the two iron oxides, goethite and hematite, the clay mineral kaolinite, as well as small amounts of anatase (TiO2) and ilmenite (FeTiO3 or FeOTiO2). Australia and China are the world's two primary producers of this ore.
