1.8" Metallic Pyrargyrite Crystals on Quartz - Mexico
This is a cluster of metallic-grey pyrargyrite crystals that formed from a quartz encrusted matrix. This specimen was collected from Zacatecas, Mexico
Pyrargyrite is a complex sulfide mineral that's known as a sulfosalt. The crystals are a combination of silver, antimony and sulfur atoms that together bare the chemical formula Ag3SbS3. Small crystals of pyrargyrite are often ruby red in color, with larger crystals being a metallic grey to greyish-black color.
