Very Rare 15" Stegosaurus Dorsal Vertebra - Wyoming

Stegosaurus is a relatively rare dinosaur, and any Stegosaurus material is very tough to find. This is 15" tall Stegosaurus dorsal vertebrae from a private quarry in East of Dinosaur, Colorado. It was collected over a decade ago but was just recently unwrapped from it's plaster jacket prepared and mounted

It is complete and comes with a custom, metal display stand. You simply won't ever see much Stegosaurus material for sale, because despite it's wide recognition in popular culture it is one of the rarer animals in the Morrison Formation.

Like nearly all bones from the Morrison Formation there is repair and some restoration. Most of the restoration is on the tips of the process.

Stegosaurus is one of the most recognizable dinosaurs in the world due to its distinctive tail spikes and plates along its back. So far, 3 species have been described from the Upper Morrison Formation, and it has been in the news quite a bit lately due to "Sophie" the Stegosaurus at the London Natural History Museum. Stegosaurus is the state fossil of Colorado.
