Two Fossil Pea Crabs (Pinnixa) From California - Miocene

This is a 8 million year old fossil "pea crab", Pinnixa galliheri from the Monterey Formation of California. It contains the carapace and legs preserved in an orange coloration against the light colored shale. The orange coloration is due to iron oxide, however the color of this specimen is faint compared to other like specimens.
