Six Foot Mounted Diplodocus Dinosaur Leg - Colorado

This is an incredible display piece, a complete 68" tall, juvenile Diplodocus front leg mounted on a custom metal stand. This limb was collected this year by one of our partners, Dinosaurs of America at their private quarry east of Dinosaur, Colorado. It will come with all documentation including quarry photos.

The bone quality is excellent, being black and very dense, very similar to the preservation at the famed "wall" at the Dinosaur national monument. Restoration is far less than you typically see in pieces like this. The small Ulnare bone is a cast as well as the four tiny, nuby Phalanges. If you google Diplodocus legs, you'll notice these phalanges are rarely even included in museum mountings, because they are almost never recovered during collection due to their small size and fragility. Other than those small bones, there are the repairs, crack fills and some restored areas of surface erosion typically seen with Dinosaur material.

On the metal stand this piece stands almost 7 feet tall. The metal work to mount it was well done and all of the bones are easily removable. The piece will ship in a custom wooden crate.



One of the best-known sauropods, Diplodocus was a very large long-necked quadrupedal animal, with a long, whip-like tail. It could reach up to 115 feet in length but had a relatively small skull, and a mouth full of small peg-like teeth it
