Serrated, 1.22" Allosaurus Tooth With Sandstone Impression

This is a really cool piece. A sharply serrated, 1.22" long Allosaurus tooth that's removeable from the matrix in which is was found. The tooth has excellent enamel preservation, sharp serrations and some interesting wear facets to the tip. It displays very well on the matrix in which it was found, but was also cleaned seperate of the matrix.

It was collected at a private quarry, east of Dinosaur, Colorado.

This tooth comes from what is being called the "Salt & Pepper Layer" in the quarry. A meter and a half thick sandy layer which probably represents a river channel deposit. It mostly contains isolated teeth and tumbled bone fragments. The quarry is also the location of the recently announce "Elvis" Torvosaurus find.
