Serrated, 1.17" Tyrannosaur Tooth - Judith River Formation, Montana

This is a 1.17" Tyrannosaur tooth from the Judith River Formation of Montana. This formation is approximately 70 million years old, or about 5 million years old than the Hell Creek Formation which produces T-Rex.

The tooth is fairly thick in cross section and likely came from near the front of the jaw. Most of the enamel is still present though it's worn on the tip and near the edges. Fine serrations are present along one edge.

Comes with a small acrylic display case.

Three species of tyrannosaur have been described from the Two Medicine & Judith River Formations: Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus and Daspletosaurus. Research done on teeth from these three tyrannosaurs has concluded that isolated teeth are statistically impossible to assign to a specific genus because they are so similar.
