This is a excellent specimen of a rarely seen Scottish ammonite Ludwigia murchinsonae. It was collected from the Isle of Skye in Scottland. It's a large ammonite at 6 inches wide and displays some very nicely preserved suture patterns. There are a number of smaller ammonite specimens also present in the limestone surrounding it. The base of the limestone has been sawed flat so that this large specimen displays very aesthetically.
