Pair of Spiny Comura Trilobites - Top Quality Preparation

This is a pair of impeccably prepared Comura trilobites quarried near Oufaten, Morocco. It was prepared by one of the best preparitors in the world and the shell quality and detail is second to none. The two specimens are both about 2" in length, and naturally associated right next to each other. The rock has been worked so that it displays very aesthetically without visible tool marks. A true collector piece.

Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). They were one of the most successful of the early animals on our planet with over 25k described species, filling nearly every evolutionary niche. Due in large part to a hard exoskeleton (shell), they left a excellent fossil record.
