Fossil Beetles, Flies and a Beetle Larva - Green River Formation, Utah

This is a fossil insect cluster from the Green River Formation of Uintah County, Utah. This specimen contains multiple species of beetle (order Coleoptera), flies (order Diptera) and at least one beetle (order Coleoptera) larva. The larva can be identified by the elongated abdomen and large mandibles.

While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse insect fauna.
