Detailed Fossil Dark-Winged Fungus Gnat and Mite in Baltic Amber
This is a small but nicely detailed, 44 million year old fossil dark-winged fungus gnat (order Diptera - family Sciaridae) and a snout mite (subclass Acari - family Bdellidae), preserved in Baltic amber. The mite is about 1.8mm wide.
As a reminder, most inclusions in Baltic amber are extremely small so magnification will be needed to make out much detail. Included with your order is a physical photo of the specimen, and we will also email you a high resolution digital copy.
