8.3" Tall, Miocene Fossil Gastropod Cluster - France

These are fossil gastropods collected near Bordeaux, France. They are Early Miocene in age which makes them approximately 16-20 million years old. These fossil shells have been remounted in an artificial matrix for display purposed.

The prominent members of this collection are two Buccinidae (welk) and a Conidae (cone snails) and a Charoniidae (trumpet snail). The largest shell is a welk. In addition, there are shells and fragments from a number of other marine gastropods, corals, and mollusks.
