5.5" Fossil Tortoise (Testudo) - South Dakota

This is a beautiful, 5.5" tortoise (Testudo) from the White River Formation in South Dakota. It is inflated, not highly crushed like many specimens. There is a repaired crack that runs through the entire shell with minor restoration along the crack. There is restoration along the anterior end of the carapace (top of shell) and plastron (bottom of shell). The restoration to the plastron of the shell is at the intergular scute, while the restoration of the carapace is to the right marginal scute. Overall the shell and the stone are very stable. It comes with an acrylic display stand.
