3.3" Paralejurus Trilobite - Huge Specimen

At 3.3" long this is a monster Paralejurus. This trilobite averages around 2 inches in length. Not only is it large but it's well inflated and prepared. The hundreds of tiny eye facets are even preserved and can be seen particularly well in the left eye (check out the zoomed in photo!).

There is about 3-5% shell restoration, primarily along the repaired crack through the tail.

Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). They were one of the most successful of the early animals on our planet with over 25k described species, filling nearly every evolutionary niche. Due in large part to a hard exoskeleton (shell), they left a excellent fossil record.
