3.1" Asaphus Kowalewskii Trilobite With Stalk Eyes - Large Specimen

This is a very large, specimen of the stalk-eyed trilobite Asaphus kowalewskii. It is Middle Ordovician in age and was collected at the Vilpovitsy quarry in the St. Petersburg region of Russia. The stalk eyes likely allowed to survey it's surroundings while remaining buried in the mud.

Like nearly all of the asaphid trilobites commercially available from these quarries there is some shell restoration. The shell tends to flake off during collection. The majority of the restoration is on the right side of the tail as well as some smaller patches on the right cheek. Probably 7-8% in total.
