24.8" Sauropod (Suuwassea?) Dinosaur Left Femur - Wyoming

This is a 24.8" long sauropod (Suuwassea?) dinosaur left femur bone. It was collected from the Morrison Formation in Big Horn County, Wyoming. Because of the location from which this bone was collected, along with the size of the bone, it is believed that these came from a sauropod of the genus Suuwassea. These dicraeosaurid (sister group to Diplodocidae) sauropods were smaller than most of the other sauropods that come out of the Morrison Formation.

This femur was found fragmented throughout the diaphysis (shaft), many of which required crack repair and gap fill restoration where the bone wasn't recovered. The crack repairs continue through both the distal and proximal epiphysis. Each end has undergone some weathering which required glue stabilization to prevent further crumbling.
