23" Ammonite Cluster (Harpoceras, Dactylioceras) - Germany

This is a large 23" wide cluster of ammonites from the Posidonia Shale of Germany. They have been compressed and are preserved on a black slate in a partially pyritized state. The largest ammonites are about 8" across and are of the genus Harpoceras, most of the smaller ones are Dactylioceras. The piece was a wall hanger installed on the back of the plate so that it can easily be hung on a wall or we can supply a display stand.
