2.75" Asaphus Kowalewskii Trilobite With Stalk Eyes

This is a nice, specimen of the stalk-eyed trilobite Asaphus kowalewskii. It is Middle Ordovician in age and was collected at the Vilpovitsy quarry in the St. Petersburg region of Russia. The stalk eyes likely allowed to survey it's surroundings while remaining buried in the mud. Unlike most specimens this one does not appear to have any shell restoration.

The head is tucked causing the stalk eyes to stick out in front. There is about 5% shell restoration, most of it on the tail.
