This is a cluster of fossil tunicates (order Salpida) from the Heath Shale Formation of Fergus County, Montana. This specimen is well preserved and the color of the specimen contrasts nicely against the limestone.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.

Tunicates, also known as sea squirts, are barrel shaped invertebrate marine animals that most often fasten themselves to solid surfaces. Modern day tunicates have two water siphons that allow it to filter through water and collect food like plankton.
